Are your Sims bored with the home routine? Perhaps it’s time for a change! In this expansion pack, your Sims will travel around and explore the world. Whether you go for a short city trip, or for a long trip around the world: the possibilities are limitless!
So many destinations, so many options
There is so much to explore! Taste local foods, dress like a local, meet inhabitants of undiscovered places and get to know their way of life, from religion and cultural habits to languages. Use your smartphone to translate everything!
Now your Sims will be able to visit vibrant cities and iconic cultural landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty, the Big Ben, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Tokyo Tower, the Sydney Opera House, the Sagrada Familia, Stonehenge, the Pyramids of Giza, the Taj Mahal, the Acropolis, the Niagara Falls, Angkor Wat, Loch Ness, the Kremlin and much more. Explore the buzzing nightlife of each city, and travel to different neighborhoods.
However, skipping tourists traps is also possible and there are many lesser-known destinations for you to choose from.
Discover a world full of possibilities
In earlier installments of The Sims, Sims were able to travel to destinations such as snow resorts, breathtaking mountain woodlands, beautiful beaches, and several countries, including France, Egypt, and China. This new expansion pack for The Sims 5 takes it to the next level!
Now there are many more countries to choose from and to explore. One fantastic new feature is the globe, where you, as a player, can choose your favorite destinations based on real life countries. How cool is that?!
Sims that are getting homesick easily, will be able to stay a little closer to home. Hang around on a family camping, or visit cities or villages nearby. There’s no need to travel far away to have fun.
Sims will have to book their vacation through their smartphone, computer, or by visiting a tour operator in town. It’s that easy. There’s something for everyone! It’s even possible to book a trip without knowing the destination. Unlock your mystery destination after arriving at the airport and be surprised!
Chase the sun
What kind of traveler are you? Are you chasing the sun? If so, then visit tropical islands such as Hawaii or the Philippines. Meet the locals and enjoy relaxing days on white beaches under palm trees, sunbathing with flower crowns in your hair and a cocktail in your hand. Can it get any better? Your Sims will be able to swim in crystal clear ocean water, with coral reefs and dolphins, as well as lakes and pools. Another fun activities on the beach are building sandcastles, playing volleyball or picnicking with friends.
Sims looking for even warmer destinations will also have the opportunity to visit African deserts such as the Sahara, where they can ride camels, or Australian red deserts where they will see stunning landscapes.
Out in the cold
Want to cool down a bit? Why not pay a visit to Finland or Iceland? Here, your Sims can dip in a cold lake. But if that’s too cold for them, will be able to warm up in a hot sauna or tub, or they can enjoy a campfire and roast marshmallows whilst warming up. And, if they’re really lucky, they might even catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights, a fascinating and unbelievable experience.
More adventures, more fun
Looking for more exciting adventures? Go mountain climbing in the Grand Canyon in the United States, visit the Rocky Mountains in Canada, or pay a visit to the Alps in Switzerland, Austria, where your Sims can rent a lodge and witness the effects of climate change.
Depending on the weather conditions, your Sims can even go skiing or snowboarding in the mountains or hills. If they are lucky, they will have a fantastic view over the surroundings if it is not too cloudy or foggy. And, if it’s not too cold, you can bring your own tent and go camping in the nature.
Other exciting activities are rafting, canoeing, indoor or outdoor rock climbing, paragliding, javelin throwing, and hiking.
Travel off the beaten path
Explore hidden gems around the world, places where tourists don’t usually go! Go on a hike and visit some of the unknown villages in Ecuador, South-Korea, Macedonia, Madagascar, New Zealand, Greenland, or anywhere else. Your Sims can discover unique places and captivating landscapes.
Travel to unexplored places on earth and collect souvenirs during your trips. Taste, smell, hear, feel, and see the world from a different perspective and meet new friends. Maybe your Sims will even come across beautiful hidden temples, pirate ships, or glacier caves!
Unlocks rewards whilst traveling the world
As your Sims travel the world, they will be able to accomplish tasks and unlock fantastic rewards, which gives them access to hidden buildings, hidden rooms, new countries and special collectibles such as souvenirs and items that could come in handy during trips.
How can your Sims unlock rewards, you may ask? Go on a treasure hunt and solve difficult puzzles – but watch out for traps! Handy Sims will be able to disarm traps, but it’s not going to be easy. Be cautious of mummies, dragons, ninjas, pirates, and bigfoot, as they can show when you least expect it. Luckily, Sims will always be able to access their inventory where they will find a map and other items for emergency situations. A smartphone can be used as well, but an internet connection is not always guaranteed, making it more difficult to navigate.
Make money while traveling
Traveling the world can be expensive. Fortunately, now your Sims can earn money while traveling. There are different possibilities, including working remotely for an international organization, or by going on a workation, a working vacation. Become a pilot, steward, product manager, programmer, or marketer, and travel around the world. Your Sims will definitely benefit from these international experiences!
Getting around – with eco-friendly options
It’s up to you to decide how to get around. Of course, it’s easy to take a plane, car, cab or boat, but there are more eco-friendly options as well. Consider taking a train instead! Other options are using a bike, an electric car, an electric bike or an electric scooter. For shorter distances, walking or hiking might be the best solution. It’s good to note that some countries have limited transportation options, so it’s good to prepare yourself before going.
In any case, be careful when you start packing your backpack or luggage because it can be difficult and tiring to carry around heavy items all the time. But if you don’t mind doing this, you can even bring a tent with you, as well as other important items such as a camera, notebook, tablet or diary – allowing you to capture or write down all of your best and worst experiences while traveling.
Choose the right accommodation
Are you looking for a good place to stay? There are plenty of options to choose from. Depending on your budget, you can choose between hostels, low-budget or luxury hotels, apartments, bed & breakfasts, guest houses, holiday homes, lodges, campgrounds, and even Couchsurfing. Booking through Airbnb is even possible.
Traveling on a small budget? The earlier your Sims book a trip, the cheaper it will be. Last-minute deals can be found online as well. Your Sims can also receive special offers and discount coupons, which can be used when booking accommodation online.
Aren’t your Sims traveling on a small budget? Then they could consider staying at a luxury hotel as they offer many extras, from room service to swimming pools, and from spas to limousines.
Did you know that Sims can do “WooHoo” in hotel beds as well? This means that they can get pregnant while being on vacation. How cool is that? In addition to that, pets and children will also be able to join trips and stay in accommodations together with adults.
After each stay, Sims will be able to leave a review online as well. We hope you had a great experience in any case!
Buy a second home
Sims will also be able to buy a second home in their own country or abroad. And best of all: you as a player can build their second home as well. Choose the right materials and customize each detail, including window frames, walls, floors, fences, roofs, and more. Furnish your second home with beautiful objects and accessories.
For those who don’t have the patience to build a home, there are also many existing buildings to choose from in the in-game library.
Move to a new country
Traveling can be very rewarding and fun, but moving to a new country is probably even more exciting – and scary at the same time. Sims will now be able to move abroad. Integrating is part of the process, so your Sims need to learn new languages or dialects. Make sure to get a permanent or temporary position in the new country, as it makes it easier to settle down.
Become a business owner
One of the most exciting new features of this expansion is that your Sims can business owners. This time around, they will be able to own different types of tourists accommodations, including hotels, hostels, resorts and camp sides. Sims can also become owner of restaurants, local stores and tourist attractions.
As a gamer, you will be able to build and customize these accommodations, venues, restaurants, stores, and tourist attractions. And there’s more good news: there are no rabbit holes anymore. Hurray!
Running a business is definitely not easy, but becoming your own boss can be very rewarding. Don’t forget to hire employees to support and grow your business. And don’t worry if you don’t feel like becoming a business owner. There are many other career possibilities as well.
More new careers
This expansion pack comes with a few new exciting careers!
Now your Sims can become professional photographers. It sounds easy, but it takes a lot of time and energy to develop photography skills. Meet other photographers during meetups, and practice whilst traveling and make different types of shots, from close-ups to landscape photographs. Use a smartphone, a DSLR with a variety of lenses, or a simple Polaroid camera, and prepare a photography exhibit of your work. In addition to that, your Sims will also be able to share photos on social media or to sell them at the local market. Create photo shoots in a studio and edit photos afterwards to make them even more striking. Print out your best shots and put them in a frame!
Have you ever wanted to become a travel guide? Now you can! This new career allows your Sims to travel the world without paying anything – for real. Being a guide is fun! You, as an expert, will be showing interesting places to visitors and tell them great stories. It’s a fun way to make money and to meet new people.
Now you can also become a professional vlogger. You, as an influencer, will be sharing your experiences with thousands of followers online. What’s more, is that you can earn money by uploading videos and, if you’re lucky, you will get paid to promote tourist destinations and attractions. How cool is that?! Travel organizations will be lining up to give you free access and swag in return for sharing cool vlogs. Hidden places will become tourist hotspots thanks to your videos.
Far away, yet so close
Even if you’re Sims are on the other side of the world, they can – in most cases – stay in touch with their friends and family abroad. Modern technologies, including video chat apps and email, are available in most countries, as long as there is an internet connection available.
Stay connected for life, and share all your experiences on social media with all of your relatives, pals and the rest of the world!
And, of course, it’s also possible to send an old-school postcard as well.
